EXTRA CREDIT

DUE THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2010

You have the option of writing an essay for extra credit. This essay must be grammatically correct and show a well-organized thought process. You must cite all sources and direct quotes appropriately. Any instances of plagiarism (from a friend or another source) will result in a zero grade.
This extra credit essay will be given the same weight (grade percentage) as a test. This means that it will balance a bad test grade.

ESSAY PROMPT
You are writing to someone who has never used math before. This person thinks that math is unnecessary and not useful in everyday life. You must explain to this person how math is used in our world everyday and why it is important to life, using at least one example of something you have learned in class this year.

Algebra 1 – one page
Algebra 2 – two pages
Precalculus – three pages
Calculus – three pages

Essay must be typed in Times New Roman font, 12 pt., single spaced, with one-inch margins all around. Essay must also include a bibliography (not included in the number of pages).

The better the essay—the more bonus points!
I will be happy to help you and give suggestions as you write it.
